Job Summary:

The IT Infrastructure Lead is accountable for planning, organising, and managing resources to ensure the stable operation of the organisation’s Microsoft infrastructure. Collaborating closely with the ICT Infrastructure Senior Team Lead, this role will develop and implement infrastructure practices aligned with the organisation’s business goals. This position requires a broad understanding of cross functional infrastructure areas, including Unix/Linux, databases, and networks.

Responsibilities: 

•    Lead the deployment, configuration and maintenance of operating systems, ensuring security, reliability, and high availability across the organization’s systems.
•    Oversee the design, deployment and management of virtualization platforms to ensure high performance and reliability of virtualized environments.
•    Lead the design, deployment, configuration and management of storage systems.
•    Monitor resource utilization, optimize virtual machine performance and manage capacity to meet current and future needs.
•    Optimize and optimize system performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and ensuring efficient resource utilization.
•    Monitor storage utilization, plan for capacity growth, and optimize storage performance to ensure the availability to ensure the availability of critical resources.
•    Develop and implement automation workflows using scripting language and tools to streamline operations, reduce manual intervention and improve response times
•    Oversee and managing patching, system upgrades and software updates for Windows, Linux and Unix systems
•    Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for virtual infrastructure and operating systems to ensure business continuity and high availability.
•    Ensure that virtualized infrastructure and operating systems comply with security and regulatory requirements, implementing best practices for hardening, patching and incident response.
•    Manage and mentor a team of system administrators providing technical guidance, training and development opportunities.
•    Work closely with application team, network team and other IT stakeholders to ensure seamless infrastructure support and address any cross-functional issues.
•    Create and maintain documentation of virtualization architectures, configurations, processes and incident response protocols.
•    Collaborate with the ICT Infrastructure Senior Team Lead to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of IT infrastructure projects.
•    Drive continuous improvement and implement IT best practices across processes and performance metrics.
•    Embrace innovation and adapt to new ways of working.
•    Coordinate resources for server, software, and hardware installations and upgrades.
•    Manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality IT infrastructure services.
•    Serve as a secondary point of escalation for infrastructure-related issues, ensuring resolution.
•    Be available for after-hours and weekend work as needed and be on call 24/7 for Major Incident Response.
•    Act as a liaison between third-party service providers, vendors, and contractors regarding IT systems’ technical operations.
•    Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement necessary corrections, coordinating with suppliers as needed.
•    Stay current with technology trends and innovations, providing valuable input for the Technology Strategy.
•    Deliver relevant reports to the Senior Team Lead Infrastructure and/or Head of IT Operations.
•    Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Requirements: 

•    A minimum of 7 years of experience managing technology projects.
•    Over 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a Microsoft-based and Linux environment.
•    Must have experience managing Windows and Linux Servers, MS Exchange, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
•    Must possess experience with VMware, including installation, configuration, and management.
•    Experience with Cisco networking technologies, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
•    Experience with IBM AIX server operating systems is a plus.
•    Experience with Fortinet firewalls, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting, is an advantage.
•    Familiarity with technologies like Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift is beneficial.
•    Experience with service management tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, Cherwell, or equivalent is advantageous.
•    Experience working with offshore outsourced service providers is a plus.
•    Certifications in Project Management (e.g., PRINCE II, PMP, ITIL v3, Six Sigma) are preferred.
•    Familiarity with Agile and waterfall methodologies is a plus.
•    Experience with cloud-based development (e.g., Azure or AWS PaaS environments) is advantageous.
•    Banking experience is a plus.
