Launched in June 2026, the inaugural competition centred on the theme “Navigating the New Frontier: The Implications and Implementation of the Qualified Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax (QDMTT) in Mauritius.”

The initiative attracted 19 research paper submissions from students across several higher education institutions, participating either individually or in teams.

The competition aimed to deepen students’ understanding of the QDMTT, examine its legal and regulatory framework in Mauritius, and encourage critical analysis of its interaction with corporate taxation and evolving international tax rules.

Through this initiative, Mauritius Finance sought to foster academic research, critical thinking and greater engagement among the next generation of professionals on key policy developments shaping the future and competitiveness of the Mauritius International Financial Centre.
