Embark on a journey within the Leveraged and Project Finance (LPF) Team under CIB – Global Structured Finance Strategic Business Unit. The team provides strategic advice on debt structuring, leads credit requests through in-depth analysis and negotiations, and partners closely with internal and external stakeholders through to disbursement for existing and prospective clients.
Within, LPF, the Leveraged Finance Segment focuses on providing debt financing solutions tailored to the client’s ambitions for diverse and complex transactions in structures such as leveraged buyouts, acquisitions, fund-related financing, portfolio financing, dividend recapitalisations, refinancings, etc.
The Project Finance segment is responsible for structuring and arranging financing for large-scale energy, real estate and infrastructure projects, focusing on non-recourse or limited-recourse financial solutions. The team also aims to maximize the value of projects by assessing their commercial viability, managing associated risks, and ensuring that financing structures align with project cash flows.
We are on the lookout for various roles within the LPF team:
Job vacancies: Leveraged and Project Finance Specialist, Leveraged and Project Finance Lead & Leveraged and Project Finance Senior Lead
These roles focus on the structuring, analysis, negotiation, execution, and delivery of complex leveraged and project finance transactions, with increasing accountability for transaction leadership, technical authority, client ownership, and people development depending on seniority.
In these roles you will;
- Analyse, structure, negotiate, and execute leveraged finance and project finance transactions from origination to financial close;
- Develop, review, and validate complex financial models, valuations, cash flow analyses, and debt capacity assessments;
- Prepare and review credit papers, internal approvals, transaction presentations, and pitch materials;
- Structure financing solutions aligned with client objectives, market conditions, and the Bank’s risk appetite;
- Monitor transaction milestones to ensure timely and accurate execution;
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, structural, and operational transaction risks;
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal credit and risk policies;
- Review and negotiate term sheets, loan agreements, and financing documentation;
- Safeguard the Bank’s commercial, credit, and reputational interests;
- Develop and manage strong relationships with clients, sponsors, advisors, and investors;
- Act as a trusted advisor on transaction structures, financing strategies, and market conditions;
- Engage clients throughout the transaction lifecycle, addressing issues and delivering solutions;
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and repeat business;
- Conduct market and sector analysis to identify financing opportunities and risks;
- Monitor regulatory, economic, and competitive developments;
- Support origination, client pitches, and new business initiatives;
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture;
- At senior levels, manage team resources, oversee performance reviews and development planning, while reviewing work output and providing coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior team members.
We are looking for a candidate who has a minimum of:
EITHER:
- Degree in Banking/Accounting & Finance/Economics/Law or in a numerate degree (e.g. Engineering, Maths) and/or a relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CFA);
- 1-8 years of working experience in financial analysis and/or credit analysis, preferably in the banking industry with exposure to project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, deal advisory or a similar role;
- A master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, ACA) is an added advantage.
- For Senior Lead, a minimum of 3 years’ experience in leading or managing teams
OR:
- 5-10 years of working experience in financial analysis and/or credit analysis, preferably in the banking industry with exposure to project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, deal advisory or a similar role .
- A master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, ACA) is an added advantage.
- For Senior Lead, a minimum of 3 years’ experience in leading or managing teams
